01 May 2011

Dr Snowy Khoza, CEO Designate of multi-disciplinary infrastructure development firm, Bigen Africa, has succeeded Francois Swart, who retired as CEO on 30 April.

Dr Iraj Abedian, Bigen Africa Chairman, described Dr Khoza as dynamic and inspiring. “She has made her mark as an excellent business and community leader, with extensive experience and contacts in the public and private sectors. Her knowledge of the African continent will serve Bigen Africa well as it expands its strategic presence in the continent. She brings solid knowledge in infrastructure development and has the full board support in establishing additional Centres of Excellence in Mining, Roads and Energy. We have seen her strategically position Bigen Africa externally during her seven months as CEO Designate and we are confident that she will continue taking Bigen Africa to greater heights. As Chairman of Bigen Africa, I look forward to working with this dynamic woman”.

Dr Khoza, who has a PhD in Social Policy from Brandeis University in Massachusetts (USA) and an Executive MBA from the University of Cape Town, said “I am privileged to lead a well-managed company, ahead of current thinking in business solutions. Bigen Africa has a red-hot brand with accolades and awards to show. It is a financially sustainable company with confident stakeholders, highly qualified and skilled employees and mature governance structures, processes and systems. The team I inherited from Francois Swart is more than competent in conducting the company’s core business. I complement the existing skills base with experience in infrastructure development, project finance, and strategic partnerships knowledge in Africa.”

She will enhance the Bigen Africa mission to support countries in eradicating poverty and creating employment through infrastructure development.
