| MINING: Joint Water Forum |
In June 2004, representatives of the Steelpoort Valley Producers Forum and the Mogalakwena Economic Sector Forum constituted a third forum called the Joint Water Forum. Its role was to specifically focus on water and the possible partnership with the Department of Water Affairs (DWA). In essence the JWF would act as both a stakeholder and a contributor. To date 28 mines are members of the forum. On 26 May 2008, DWA, JWF and Trans Caledon Tunnel Authority (DWA’s implementing agent) signed a Memorandum of Agreement, cementing collaboration among them on the implementation of the ORWRDP scheme, securing economic development, job creation and skills development in the area. |

The Steelpoort Valley Producers Forum was established to attend to matters of mutual concern of mining companies in the Eastern Limb and to promote and encourage social and economic development in the area. |
